In class this week we listened to an Album by Massive Attack. It is like an electronic band. We watched some extremely trippy thing that I don't know how to describe. It's like a bunch of star looking things that just move around to the beat and is awesome. This album is a great lazy album. I feel like I would listen to it before I go to bed or if I needed to relax. It is an awesome album.
For the acl line up my sisters friend made a cd of what my sister and I would like. Me and my sister are going together so we have to see what we like. At first I didn't want to go to vampire weekend but now I really wanna see them. I thought I didn't like them but I haven't heard there good songs in a while.  Am also exited for kings of Leon I know some of there songs but I just hope they r good in concert and don't suck.

For this week we listened to wu-tang and some of there songs. Wu-tang clan has so many rappers. Before now I didn't really know what Wu-tang was. Now that I listened to Wu-tang clan I know that I don't like it that much. Rap is not my favorite Genre. We also looked at the Austin City Limits lineup and it was very helpful listen. I know know what I am going to go watch.
So for ACL Line up, I really like it. This is my first time going to ACL and I am pretty pumped. The bands I wanna see are Fun, Portugal The man, atoms for peace, foxygen, purity ring, muse, kings of Leon, Phoenix,  passion Pitt, group love, and jimmy eat world. I have used spotify to look up a lot of theses bands to see what I liked and that was very helpful. Hopefully I will see something random and find that I really like it.

So I have the best friend ever. The guy who is letting me use his spotify for free, is now taking me to a Jimmy Buffet concert today. He said he had another ticket and wanted me to go. So I said sure ill go. Truthfully I don't know much about Jimmy Buffet, but I will after the concert. And I haven't been to a lot if concerts so it will be fun. Ever since I moved to Austin I have been to the same amount of concerts  in one year than when I was in San Antonio in 8 years. I have  been to two concerts in San Antonio and Jimmy Buffets is my second concert in Austin. I plan to go to more and more but without a car right now is hurrying me, cause my car broke down a few months ago.... So sad face. But I am happy to go to a concert in this week cause school has been pretty brutal this week.
This week in class we listened to 'blood sugar sex magik' by the Red Hot Chilly Peppers. It was a crazy long album. There was a verity of songs, they didn't all sound the same so that was good and kind of kept the album flowing. The guitar was really good in 'Blood Sugar Sex Musik' and in the later albums the guitar sounds like crap. That was the doing of drugs on there guitar player and it is sad. We also started a little of the album' suck on this' and it is pretty bad I don't like it that much. It is so loud. What bugs me is the loudness of the guitar really. I don't mind the bass and the drums. The Bass is the singer and it is crazy how he can play and talk at the same time with such a complex bass cords. But when the guitar comes in I feel like it is useless and doesn't help the song at all. That's just for one of the songs though.

This week we watched Nirvana's unplugged. Kurt Cobaine wanted the set to have a lot of flowers and bring on some of his good rock and roll friends. It looked like a funeral set and it was foreshadowing  his death. After his unplugged he killed him self not long after. I really enjoyed his unplugged. I thought he was a really funny guy. Though he seemed like he didn't want to be a rock star he had a lot of self doubt, and in class we all agreed that he never looked too happy. He played guitar really well and sang great. It was a good unplugged concert.
So this week I got a spotify. What happened was I told my friend I would pay half to share with him and he said he would be a good friend and let me use it for free. I have the best friends ever, I have another friend that lets me use his Netflix. On my spotify I am finding out what my friend listens too ad also I am making my own playlist. And it is great.

In class this week we listened to Nirvana's album Nevermind.  It was a really awesome album. There were a few songs that I knew that I loved that I didn't know who sang it. Like the song Smells like Teen Spirt. I love that song it is really good but there was a song that they played that was so bad. The guitar was all winey and it sounded awful. There was another song where it did that but it wasn't as bad cause it had a part in the song and it wasn't point less. There are 12 songs in this album and half of them were hits and made into videos. This album was like the thriller of the 90's.
This week me and my friend went and played at Mangia pizza place and were just messing around not trying to make money but we thought another time we could play our ukulele and guitar. He taught me how to play a little bit of a couple songs and we later jammed in the car to some radio station music and made plans for next time to play. We wanna go and play at Mangia again for money so if you see us playing give us a dollar or twenty. I have been learning how to play 3 songs this week. Like I Will Wait by Mumford, I am learning that song cause everyone knows it and if I wip out my ukulele everyone will know the song and I won't have to sing.

Friday, April 12, 2013

This week we listened to Straight out of Compton and Ice Cubes album. 90's rap was a lot more vulgar then 80's rap. At least Ice Cube was. It was cuss word after cuss word. I enjoyed 80's rap day better but Ice cube was also good it was fun to listen to. Ice Cube is more modern and we hear it more in our music. We also listened to Beastie Boys. My favorite song by the Beastie Boys was shake your rump. I didn't know before that that song was by the Beastie Boys. It is a beautiful song and sometimes when I listen to it I like to shake my rump.
I went to a surprise birthday party for a friend and we played some music at the party. What happened was some girl had a crappy speaker and my friends and I got my friends truck that have 2 subs in it and we got everyone around his car and we were all dancing. But then the neighbors called cause we were too loud so my other friend had his speakers that was portable and he went back In the backyard and continued to party. What was weird was how many different genres were being played an how different people act when different types of music Is being played. Like we played some country and everyone was just singing along and when you play rap or dubstep everyone is dancing and when we played ice ice baby they do both. Music is awesome case it lets us express ourself.

In class we listened to U2 on YouTube. The guitarist made a guitar from basically nothing it was pretty hard core. We also watched a movie and first saw was Billy Jole on the piano and he played with no electric guitar, two acoustics and a drum and a piano. We listened to Only the Good Die Young. It is an awesome song his voice is kind of raspy and it rocks. We watch a skit on What did I Say buy a deaf singer Ray Charles, and It was awesome and so funny. We didn't have much Time in class for music so we watched a lot of fun. We did watch Simon and Garfunkel play The Boxer and it was so good. I k or this song really well cause its on Mumford plays it and I like that too.
So Mumford and Sons are coming to Austin on June 8th and 9th and I am Sooo pumped. A little of my personal life for you the timing of Mumford is crazy good time cause on June 8th it is me and my girlfriend will have been dating or a full year on that day. So it's pretty awesome....... But she is trying out for belles officers and if she makes it she has a belles officers camp on June 8th so that really sucks. Enough on my personal life I am dying to see them play and I am going to have the best I'm of my life. I know every song  they have soooooo I'm going to come back with no voice. And it is going to ROCK!!

Thursday, March 28, 2013

In class we listened to Paul Simon's album. I didn't like him that much his music didn't feel like there wasn't a lot of feeling and drama kind of in it. I don't like his voice it was nasally and it got annoying. His lyrics are great though and Very creative. What I liked more was watching the U2 video when they played on the roof. I have found that most of U2's music I know and have loved it but not know who it was. I liked U2 because the songs we listened to were upbeat and awesome.
So the question was asked in our class what would be played in our 10 or 20 year high school reunion.  And what I would want to be played is some Mumford and Sons cause I think when I will hear them I will think of high school. There one song, I will wait, might be played it is played on the radio. What will most likely be played is dubstep and thrift shop. It is hard to tell what is big now and "will go down in history," but personally for me it will be some modest mouse and some Mumford and Sons. Maybe a little thrift shop.

My sister bought a new album by Ellie Goulding and it was a great album. My favorite songs are Every time you go, Lights and The Writer. The only song that I think has really good lyrics is from the song The Writer, it has meaning in the song. The other songs just feel like it has meaning cause it is sung really well and with passion but mean nothing. Most of her songs are slow passed and really good. But a couple songs have been remixed and turned into up beat and awesome party songs and are fun to listen to and some songs are better remixed then the original like lights is so much better remixed. But it is a great album and fun to listen to.
In class this week we listened to the album Thriller by Micheal Jackson. It was a awesome album all of his songs on it were singles except one and there of them where number one at some point. We watched Micheal Jackson from when he was little till his weird music video Billy Jean and that made no since. But that was my favorite song in the hole album. We saw some songs where he did his dance moves like the moon walk. The next day we had a hair metal day an that was pretty bad. It was a bunch of dudes dressed funky and they jumped around like girls. The song that I knew the most was sister Christian. On Friday we watched music videos of old time rappers and that was my favorite of the week.

Thursday, March 7, 2013

In class this week we listened to some disco. First we listened to and watched Stayin alive and it is a great disco song I think. We watched some break dancing by beat street . Break dancing is so much work my friend is learning how to break dance and he said its a lot of work. But then we listened to so really good disco like chic The Freak  I don't know what  the song is called I think that's it and the other song we listened to that I liked was funky town. We also listened to so punk and the first punk song we listed to the guitar was the most annoying thing in the world. But then we look led at some 05 or 06 punk and it was pretty similar.  We listened to a bass solo by Stomp and that was probably the coolest thing we watched this week. My favorite type of disco we listened to was the funk disco. Most all the songs we listened to I knew cause of my mother she is a disco freak and 80's freak. But it's ok because I like 80's and disco.
I'm my theater class we got to show everyone 20 seconds of our favorite songs. It's really cool cause we get to show people what type of music we like and get to learn other people's personality and also other types of music. I got to learn that one of my friends like the same music as me and we now jam together. What she ha was a lot of imagine dragons and she showed me new songs and I really liked them. She also liked all the Mumford songs I showed her and had some of her own. I showed her the song that I can play on the ukulele and this week me and Dylan are going to play our ukuleles this spring break and rock out

Friday, March 1, 2013

In class this week we listened to the police. My favorite song by the police is Roxanne. What I like about the song is many things. What I like most though is the drum beat. I also like how the instruments would be playing then just stop and he would sing without any instruments. The next song I don't know the name of it but it is a good song it is a real steady beat and a great jam. We also listened to another band and there name was the Talking Heads and The Clash. I liked Clash for its song "should I stay or should I go" remember hearing that song when I was smaller but didn't know the artist was Clash witch is a English punk band. I don't think that clash was as good as the Police. I just feel like the Police is something that I would listen to more of then The Clash.
My friend Sarah a freshman has introduced a new album of Imagine Dragons that I didn't know was out. It is a pretty good album but the song from that album that I listen the most to is Round And Round. What is so good about this song to me is the hard strumming from the guitar, it is kind of like Mumford and Sons in that since. Also the drum beat and the singing that Imagine Dragons always have. The lyrics to this song is also fantastic. What I have also decided to do is learn all of the songs of Mumford and Sons cause whenever I here there songs I always think to my self that I wish I could play that and now that I have a ukulele I can. So my plan for this summer is to learn to play all of there songs.

Stevie Wonder and the Ramones

We listened to Stevie Wonder on Tuesday and we learned a bunch about Stevie Wonder. At age 11 he got sighed to play the harmonica. Later on in his life he learned how to play the guitar and the piano. When he was in his 20's he had umade and album and had lots and lots of money. What he did with his money was go to school and studied how to play music like Paul McCartney. Soon enough he got to play with Paul McCartney and there song was called Ebony and Ivory. I thought it was an ok song. Stevie Wonder is an awesome musician because he could make all these good songs and he is bling. He is a crazy good musician. We also listened to Ramones Ramones album and its good album but the songs are so short and the hole album is 29 minutes long. The first song I knew cause I heard it on the movie Jimmy Neutron. It was a bunch of songs that were fast passed with a quick beat. Most of the time you couldn't understand any of the words they would say. It wasn't the best album ever but I like it cause it was upbeat and fun.

This week I haven't done anything but perfect my song on the ukulele and what I am gonna do is on Saturday is get with Dylan Roddy and play our ukes together and become a band. But not really. I also have another friend who plays and I am gonna hook up with him another week and learn how to play some new songs. I have started to learn how to play Winter Winds by Mumford and sons and it is a very soulful song and great lyrics. I have learned the Mumford and sons album so well, Today I found out that I can listen to one song and then sing the first part of the next song before it comes on. My friend said that they are coming to Austin soon but I have checked every website online and it doesn't show that they are so I am going to go with him and see if they are actually playing when he says they are.

This week

Bobby Womack is a interesting artist. He did a lot of African American style songs. He has a very soulful type of artist and when he sings its felt and very intense. That was the way I received it At least. The other thing we did was watch the Led Zeppelin movie and it was crazy. In the movie the guitarist played his guitar like a violin. It was the craziest way I have ever seen anyone play a guitar. The thing in this movie that stuck out to me was the guitar players. The hole band was pretty good the lyrics weren't great they were mostly whining and instrumentals. There were a lot of guitar solos and it got pretty boring. It wasn't the best movie we had seen in here.

The music that I have been listening to is what I found from the belles dances that they did last week. The belles performance was really good cause they danced to some awesome songs like one of my favorite songs was ain't no sunshine and that was a beautiful dance that went with it. It was cool cause when you see people dance to a song you can see the emotion that the song has. And the belles all dance with a lot of emotion so the songs that were played you could really get into them. Two of the girls on the band did a hip hop dance to the song Thrift Shop and it was really good and funny cause all the other songs were very intense and serious. But when they danced to Thrift Shop it was fun and got everyone's attention cause it was a simple song with stupid lyrics and then it moved back to intense songs. They finished the show case with a hip hop song where all the belles danced to it and it was a good way to end it with the audience all hyped up.
In class this week we listened to John Lennon's album Imagine. And his first song on Imagine on his Imagine. Woah! I have know that song for a very long time and its on of my favorite songs by him. They are some really good lyrics and it is a very catch tune. The next song is kind of a country song and I don't really like that song cause the way they play the guitar is kind of winey and so is his voice and it just doesn't sound good to me. The third song is a soft song and I think I like it more when John Lennon sings softer songs his voice sounds better that way to me. The forth song is pretty cool cause his voice in the song sounds like he is singing through a megaphone and it had that kind of a sound to it. The fifth song is a lot of percussion and piano and one winey guitar and it sounds pretty cool. But the lyrics are repetitive and it isn't that great of a song to me the rest of the songs are all pretty good and are around this type of playing style. Except the sixth song is a pretty weird one his voice is all scratchy like I don't know how to describe it but I like it.  It's a pretty good album but I like Paul's album a bit more. I also like Paul's voice more then Johns.

Friday, February 1, 2013

In class we listened to Des Ark in class and her album "don't rock the boat sink the fucker." This album was just ok for me. There were some good thinks in there and some bad things. I like the lyrics of the songs for most of it. What got me was her voice it was so good. Usually I like music cause the tone or beat but I really didn't like the tone this time. The only flaw I had with her voice was you didn't know where she was going with it. Overall she was pretty good.

So I haven't listened to anything different  still. What I have done its learn the song 'white blank page' by Mumford. It is really fun to play and like to play it for people and sing awfully for them. My friend Andy Baxter who just put out his new album and got #5 in singer/song writer on ITunes to give me his sheet music for his songs and now I'm going to learn his stuff. I am so pumped and hope I can have a jam session with him.

Friday, January 25, 2013

This week in class we listened to Paul McCartney and his album after he left the Beatles. He left the Beatles cause he had kept them together to long and was tired of the band leaving an him having to bring them back together. The first song was unexpected cause it was only a couple of seconds long and the way it sounded I thought it was a long song and I wish it was cause I liked the tune and the beat. The hole album was pretty jumbled and everywhere. But one song was crazy good. "All things must pass" was his really good song. This album is amazing because he played everything In this album to make it. Paul McCartney is a crazy musician.
What l have been doing music wise is playing the ukulele.  It is difficult to do cause it is my first time to play and instrument with strings, but I and still playing and learning. The trouble I have is switching cords but I keep going on YouTube tutorials an its really helpful. What I want to learn is "white blank page" by Mumford and Sons. It's not to hard cause its only a couple of cords but they are hard to play cause its a lot of switching cords. It's also hard cause I don't have a lot of time in the day cause of school and homework. But I keep trying and I also need to get with some of my friends that play to get them to help me play and learn. But that is what I have been doing in terms of music.

Friday, January 18, 2013

This week in class we watched a movie a about copyrights. It is crazy what the people can do to you if you download music illegally. They can sue you for almost everything you own. If you make mashup it could cost you hundreds of thousands of dollars if you get caught. Most times they won't sue you cause it is expensive so they will send you an email to stop and they will threaten to sue. Also In in the movie it showed us how Disney sued many people for having there characters on there property or turning them into there own and making a story an publishing it to the public, that happened to one of the guys in the movie. I think Copyrights have taken it to far.
What I have been listening to for a wile now is a bunch of different things. I mostly stick to listening to Mumford and Sons, they never get old to me. I also bought a ukulele like a  few weeks back and what I want to do is learn how to play some of there songs on it. I also have been listening to some kid cudi and I like some of his music. I really only like the beat and tone of his songs but the lyrics are not what I like the most. But there are some lyrics that are pretty clever and those are the songs that I like and are fun to sing along to. But Mumford is my music and it will be for a long long time!

Thursday, January 10, 2013

My friend came out with his new album on Tuesday and it is really good. When he looked at it the next morning his album is #5 in his genres. The songs in his album are soft sounding but really good. They are only around two minutes short for most of them. My favorite song is called "brother". I think it is funny that its called brother cause when he talks to people he always call them brother. The song is about two friends and they are really close to each other and they both mean a lot to each other. I love his album and everyone should get it.

In class this week we listened to sly, and the family stone and black sabbath. I really like sly and the family stone. The songs on that album I have heard before and this was like a little refresher of what's good. When I was listening to I I remember just jamming to it with my friends I was also jamming In class to it, just a little less but still I loved it. I really don't like black sabbath all that much cause the style of music is not what I like and it is so ridiculously long.
